Honing Machine Operator
Job Summary
The right candidate will be expected to set up and operate one or more honing machines to hone internal surfaces of objects, such as cylinders, bearings, and connecting rods to specifications, following tooling instructions, standard charts, and honing procedures. Pay may vary due to experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Read blueprints and job orders for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be honed, speeds, feed rates, work-holding fixtures, and honing tools to be used.
- Measure honed work-piece for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as preset gauges, micrometers, & calipers.
- Identify and obtain proper materials
- Perform detailed work within precise limits and accuracy
- Follow written and spoken instruction
- Perform a variety of duties that will change often
Minimum Education/Work Experience
- 2+ years machine shop experience with thorough knowledge of Hone Machines, machine shop practices, principles, and operations. Must have prior knowledge of running Sunnen Honing Machines.
- High School or equivalent education

We primarily provide I.D. honing services for the Aerospace Industry, along with Automotive, Commercial, Defense, Manufacturing, Marine, Medical and Oil & Gas applications. In 2007, CT Hone, Inc. began renovations to double our facility size to better service industries with a need for precision I.D. honing. The addition was completed in 2008, allowing us to have larger inspection and storage areas. Our entire facility is climate controlled and new lighting was added to increase energy efficiency. The renovations also included a new office, computer and software upgrades, and purchasing additional honing machinery, to increase productivity.
CT Hone, Inc. is busier than ever and continues to grow. Our capabilities include tube honing and grinding I.D.s .060″ through 18″ and lengths up to 12′ long. We handle single piece, through production runs, and are experienced in honing and grinding all materials, including exotics.
